Stay Home For Me

Here in the U.S., we’re all being ordered to stay home, to practice social distancing. But there are still many out there who don’t and who are putting the most vulnerable among us at risk. Today, we want to introduce you to a handful of people that rely on those who are healthy to STAY HOME. Let’s put a face to this, let’s remember that there are people who need our help, and let’s remember why we’re doing this.

I’m a 31 year old ovarian cancer survivor with multiple blood clots and Lynch Syndrome, a condition that makes it extremely difficult for my body to recognize healthy cells vs harmful cells. COVID-19 would hospitalize me and make the 2 blood clots in my lungs even more dangerous, further putting my health I’ve worked so hard for in jeopardy. I know you have cabin fever and I know this is hard, but please stay home so people like me aren’t put at risk!

I’m diabetic but I also have a weakened immune system due to having C-diff and Stevens Johnson syndrome in the past. Both of these hospitalized me and both were quite scary. Covid-19 terrifies me and ironically I’m an essential worker as I work for Johns Hopkins so I HAVE to be out there. My significant other developed heart issues when he was young so he’s at higher risk of complications. I still have to see Paris in real life and put a stamp in my passport. Please, stay home.....for me.

Jess & Chad

Chad has had asthma his whole life. Jess was diagnosed with diabetes about a year ago. Jess makes party goods and Chad teaches college. We do all we can to take care of ourselves and keep our illnesses manageable. Stay at home for us so it stays that way.

Staying at home and practicing social distancing means you are helping me stay healthy as I can since my immune system is compromised due to an extremely rare autoimmune disease, part of which affects my lungs and my capacity to breathe. It also means hopefully that the spread dissipates sooner versus later and I can get the treatment I’ve been waiting 9 years for, which is now on hold until further notice while my body continues to deteriorate. By staying home, you are helping someone like me live to fight another day and I could not be more grateful! Love and blessings!

Stay home for me! I’m a Mom of a beautiful, smart, fiery 7 year old little girl, and am battling cancer for the 2nd time in 3 years. The first time I was diagnosed with cancer 3 years ago, was the most traumatizing experience that my little family had ever faced, but one that we believed I had overcome. With this 2nd diagnosis, last year, we’ve been battling our way through it all over again. This time though, I’ll be on chemotherapy for the remainder of my life. Please stay home for me, so that I can be here, watching my Little Girl grow, and flourish, and thrive.

Stay home for me - I’m 56 years old, I’m a writer, a traveler, a Nana to seven beautiful grandkids...and I have Multiple Sclerosis. Having MS does not mean I’m more likely to become infected with this virus. However, my infusion therapy (the only drug available for my type of MS) compromises my immune system such that if I become infected my body will have a harder time fighting it. I want to travel, I want to see my grandkids graduate from college, get married, have babies...I want to travel with my grandkids, show them that the world isn’t as scary as all of this nonsense they are living through. Stay home for me.

Due to my connective tissue disease and the way it impacts my body, I am more susceptible to infection and often experience more severe symptoms. Infections that effect the respiratory system are often some of the worst for me.

Please stay home because I have stage four metastatic breast cancer in my bones and lungs. I am currently on treatment, have had IV chemo and radiation in the past, and am immunocompromised. I check all the boxes. If I get this virus, I won't recover.

This is just a small sampling of women in our own community who depend on the rest of us to STAY HOME so that they do not become infected. They are doing everything right in their own lives, so now we need to make sure that we are doing what we can to help them as well. Stay home, save lives. We’ll get through this together.
